There were nine in our party on a Sunday afternoon for lunch. This was my first experience with authentic Russian food (all but 2 of us, myself included, were Russian) and I was not disappointed. The only reason this place does not get my five stars is because their decor lacks something fierce and the name of this place does not represent their authentic heritage (they're even located in little Russia!). We had so many dishes, all eaten family style, that I can't remember them all, but I didn't taste anything I didn't like. The highlights that I remember were the salads (Greek, cucumber, and carrot versions), the borscht soup, the lamb kebabs, and the dessert. The salads came first. The Greek was as you'd expect, except the dressing was perfectly applied - not too much, and it wasn't too vinegar-y, as can be the case. The cucumber was a mix of sliced vegetables soaked in a thin, light and mild dressing that disguises the fact that it's supposed to be a salad. Almost a sweet taste to it. The carrot salad had the same dressing but the ingredients were just thinly sliced carrots. It doesn't sound that great, I know, but it tasted great. For the soup course, I ordered the borscht. This soup changed the game for me, and all future vegetable soups will be judged against this. It comes out thin and there are meat, potatoes, and veggies floating around. The far out part for me was the large clump of sour cream floating atop the broth. Weird, for sure. Stir it in, they said, it changes the texture. Jealously, my tablemates watched as I stirred and this piping hot, heaping bowl of soup turned into a creamy, pinkish heaven. There was so much of it, I could barely keep it from spilling over the sides. I could've stopped eating after just the soup - that's how satisfying and filling this dish was. But of course, there was more to come... Next up were the lamb kebabs. Brought to us on metal skewers, the kebabs were very hot and perfectly seasoned. It would be insulting to dip these meats in any kind of sauce. And you wouldn't need or want to - as they got the flavor just right, they were plenty moist all the way through, and the outside edges were barely crispy. Then came dessert. It was a traditional Russian layer cake that I believe is called medovik, similar to the Armenian version of a layer cake - marlenka. Layers of moist yet crumbly dough with cream cheese frosting and/or honey. The chocolate and honey versions are delicious and we got both to split. I would definitely get the kebabs again. And the borscht. And the salad. Probably the dessert too. And those are just the dishes I can remember. Oh, and they also have Russian ice cream. If you can manage after a full meal like this, major props.

I'm not from Miami but was in the area for a friend's birthday. There was a large group of us that were gathering for lunch and the majority of people in our group were Russians. And they insisted on eating at New York Deli as it was a tradition they do every time they get together in Miami. I went along with the group's decision but was really confused...Russian food at "New York Deli"??? Crazy Russians...:) Well this turned out to be one of the best lunches I've ever had in my life! I just wish I had a bigger stomach. Our table took a "family style" approach to ordering food so we could all try a little bit of everything. If you're with a big group, I definitely recommend ordering that way. The meal started off with bread..which was buttery, soft, warm, and yummy. We were then served an array of different soups (all delicious, but I'd stay away from the gnocchi one, it's nothing special), salad, roasted seasoned potatoes, and vegetables. All of it was fresh and so mouth-watering! The main meal was chicken, salmon, beef, and lamb kabobs. They were the best kabobs I've ever had, but the lamb kabob was by far the BEST! It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned. Don't leave this place without ordering the lamb kabob. We also ordered one of each of their desserts to-go, which we ate later on the beach. It was a great idea! Why this place is called "New York Deli"? I have no idea..it's definitely not New York style in anyway and it's not a deli either! It's a legit Russian place. Even the staff was fluent in Russian. Also the food was served on Chinese food plates....just kind of adds to the irony of the whole place. The restaurant is located in a dodgy looking motel's parking lot. If you're driving past this place on the street, I doubt you'd stop by here on your own. However this restaurant is a great example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover!

I'm surprised to see a few 1 stars on this restaurant. While it's not fancy shmancy, the food is consistently good. My family and I come here (not as often as I'd like, but I guess you can't have it all), we have never left with a poor experience. Granted, Russians aren't known for their hospitality so don't expect them to come often to check on you, but the food comes out quickly and if you sit back and take time to enjoy the meal and the company you're with, then isn't that all that matters when you go out? We had the lavash bread- great with butter, but I opted to spread the goat cheese that we ordered. I wouldn't order the goat cheese again; it was too much dill and parsley and nothing special about the goat cheese. Ohh well. Then we had the tomato and cucumber salad (so fresh!), the plov (mouthwatering), and the lamb kabobs (cooked to perfection). We loved it all!

Good sandwiches and Matzo ball soup. Friendly staff. They get a little overwhelmed at peak periods, but worth the wait because it is the best (only?) deli in the area.

Service and food went downhill. Used to be a great place like 7 years ago now just horrible . Food poor quality. Bread (lavish) was burnt. Shish kebab weren't as tasty. My dad makes better at home. I haven't been there is almost 7 years and it just got worst . Service is not great . Also, they are cheap with the AC. Everyone inside was sweating and they turned on the fans for a few minutes. Then they turned off the fans. I don't get it. Why would you do that to people when it is almost 100 degrees outside. It was soo hot and uncomfortable made the experience even worse. There check is weird you can't read anything and 18% of tip is already added so make sure you look. I will never go back to this place ever again. I rather go to Lula kebab better service, food and there is parking available and not to mention AC.

Excellent potato pancakes. Mazah ball soup was good. Chicken salad sandwich hefty and tasty. Crumb cake was scrumptuous. Understaffed so a little slow. But waitress was very friendly. Reasonable prices.

Food taste good actually A friend of mine worked there. Said the most dirties kitchen ever. A lot of Cocroches. Terrible owner - disrespectable to employees.

Ate here once and can't wait to go back. Came during lunch time and it had a great atmosphere, waitress was informative, and the food was amazing. Everything I had was delicious! I mainly stacked on all different types of salads, appetizers, stuffed grape leaves, and their amazing bread. I don't eat meat and still had more than enough dishes to choose from. If I'm not wrong, it's BYOB, so I'll definitely be bringing a bottle next time, along with some friends to try this place.

Used to be our favorite place, but went down the hill within last year. Worse lamb shish kebab i have ever had. The rest was not good either. Few hours later, still have a disgusting after taste. Too bad...

Went here one time and never again. Besides it being some dinky, smelly deli with a dirty patio on the side that serves as a restaurant, the service is not so great either. We ordered french fries with our meal, which we never received, but somehow they made it onto the bill as well as a salad and a mineral bottle of water that we had never ordered. Check your bill well because they might throw on a few things you never asked for. They scribble the bill in horrible Russian handwriting (which is done purposely because as we all know Russians have the best penmanship) so even if you know the language, it will be hard for you to make out what's on your bill. And if you don't know Russian, then you're really out of luck. Go to the restaurant at the Monaco Resort instead, it's 2 feet away and much better.

I've had just about everything on their menu and don't have anything negative to say. They serve rather big portions and food's always fresh. Keep it up!

Every time I visit the area, we always stop in and eat here. If you are looking for fresh Russian food, this is definitely the place to go! I'm not a fan of a lot of things, but what I can tell you is that their salmon kebab is always cooked to perfection, and very yummy! My husband got the whole fried fish, and was licking his fingers it was so good! We also got the hachipuri (sp?) I wasn't happy that I had to order 5, as I just wanted one for myself, but did anyway. It was delicious and gooey with cheese! I took the rest home and we had them for breakfast (I suggest pan frying them with no oil so they stay crispy). Their home fried potatoes and lavash bread are also amazing! And you can never go wrong with the pickled veggies yummmmmmmmm! My hubby had a second beer for dessert, but I opted for the napoleon, and boy was it amazing!!! I highly suggest you try it out!

First of all this place is not really a deli. This restaurant was purchased by a guy from Uzbekistan, and he added traditional Uzbek food to the menu. Most of the patrons are of Russian descent and come here for the Uzbek food. Now, my father is from Uzbekistan, and I LOVE Uzbek food. When it comes to Uzbek food the place is adequate. It is possible to have better Uzbek food, but you would have to go to Uzbekistan or at least to Moscow. While the service was not excessively friendly, I didn't find it to be rude or unprofessional. The chairs outside indeed are not fancy, but the place doesn't attempt to be a Ritz.

I absolutely LOVE this place!! My family and I have been coming here for years and the food has always been outstanding! I agree with the previous two reviews when they mention the decor is simple and parking is a pain in the butt. But, come on guys, you don't go to places for their decor and parking- you go there for the FOOD!! The rice (plov) is delicious, the only bad thing about it is that you have to pre-order it and its meant for big parties. The Russian salads, vareniki, soups, lamb, even the bread is good. Perhaps someone who hasn't been to Uzbekistan or Russian can't appreciate the food, but every time I've been there, the place is packed with Russians and foreigners, so obviously the place is authentic.

Amazing food. Cheesy Russian music videos. All-Russian clientele. Did I mention the awesome salmon, lamb and beef shashlik?
